Jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed, who is being shifted to Prayagraj from Gujarat's Sabarmati jail, is an accused in the 2007 Umesh Pal kidnapping and criminal conspiracy case. A vehicle of the police convoy today hit and killed a cow, while on the way to UP.
A vehicle with the convoy of police shifting gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed to Uttar Pradesh hit a cow on Monday. The incident was reported in Shivpuri in UP, while the convoy was on the way to Prayagraj.
According to the details received by India Today, the cow was killed on the spot following the accident.
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed was taken out of Gujarat's Sabarmati jail on Sunday and is set to reach Prayagraj by evening on Monday amid strict security arrangements.
Atiq Ahmed is accused of orchestrating the kidnapping and assault of a real estate businessman, Mohit Jaiswal, while in jail.
He is named in more than 100 criminal cases, including the recent murder case of Umesh Pal. Pal was gunned down outside his residence in Prayagraj on February 24 this year.
On March 28, Atiq will be produced before a court in Prayagraj, where the verdict in the case will be pronounced.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, the police convoy could be seen at Jhansi Police Lines.
The jailed gangster has been lodged in Sabarmati jail since June 2019.
Meanwhile, strict security arrangements have been made and cops deployed along the way through which UP Police's convoy carrying Atiq Ahmed will pass.
