MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday wrote to deputy chief minister and home minister Devendra Fadnavis alleging that BJP leader Mohit Kamboj had been dancing with girls in an intoxicated state at a bar in Khar at 3.30 am on Sunday and had abused and threatened the police by using names of union home minister Amit Shah and Fadnavis.
Raut further alleged that narcotic substances were being sold at the location.
Raut, who also marked a copy of the letter to police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, has demanded that the police must investigate who the owners of the bar are and register an offence against Kamboj. Raut said since the law has been violated, the bar's licence must also be cancelled.
Kamboj tweeted his reply, saying, "Everything does not need a reply! Never wrestle with pigs, you both get dirty and the pig likes it! I will give my reply at the right time and in my style! Fake narratives and stories won't last! What is the conspiracy planned behind it, will be exposed soon with facts!"
Earlier in the day, Raut shared video footage purportedly from the bar. The video, he said, was made by a Sambhaji Brigade functionary, Sachin Kamble, who first complained about Kamboj abusing the police who were asking the bar management to shut it down at 3.30 am.
Raut said in the letter, "Bars are allowed to operate till 1 am only. But this bar in Khar was open at 3:30 am on Sunday. There was a ruckus and traffic jam outside the bar, so Sachin Kamble of the Sambhaji Brigade went there but he was manhandled. So he called the police.
There were many girls in the bar and Mohit Kamboj was in an intoxicated state. Kamboj threatened uniformed police by using the name of Devendra Fadnavis. The police had to bear this humiliation and Kamboj continued to drink alcohol in front of the police. The police must take CCTV footage of the hotel immediately. This is a very serious matter. The ownership of this bar must be investigated. There was the illegal sale of narcotic substances... offence must be registered against the BJP leader."
