Akola: An attempt has been made to rob BJP Legislative Council MLA Vasant Khandelwal. The incident took place in front of Khandelwal Bhavan on Gorakshan Marg at around 10 pm. MLA Khandlewala has given a complaint to the Khadan police station that people who came here in an auto tried to rob him.

The auto driver who tried to rob the MLA and the auto has been taken into custody. MLA Vasant Khandelwal, a big bullion businessman from West Vidarbha, has been elected from the Akola-Washim-Buldana Local Self-Government Constituency of the Vidhan Parishad. The incident took place when he was on his way home from his bullion shop on Gandhi Road.

He had a verbal argument with a rickshaw puller. A rickshaw was parked in the middle of the road near Khandelwal Bhawan. MLAs urged the rickshaw driver to take this rickshaw aside. However, the rickshaw puller was not ready to listen. The MLA got down from the car and while trying to convince him, a verbal argument started between them. After that, MLAs started taking photos of the rickshaw.

At that time, the rickshaw puller grabbed the mobile phone from him. The incident happened on Sunday after 10 pm. This dispute came to the attention of local citizens. Immediately local citizens intervened and explained to the rickshaw puller. He told the rickshaw puller that the person he was arguing with was an MLA. Then the rickshaw puller left the mobile phone on the road and fled from the spot.
