Pune: Pune Crime News | After a relentless three-day search, the emergency teams involved in the operation finally located the body of Onkar Gaikwad, a young man who was washed away in a water stream at Kundmala near Talegaon Dabhade. Onkar’s friend, Aditya Gaikwad, who was present with him at the time of the incident, had attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the water when Onkar could not be found. However, alert locals managed to rescue Aditya, saving his life.

The victim, identified as Onkar Gaikwad, was a 24-year-old resident of Chakan, Khed, originally from Parner. He had visited Kundmala in Indori along with his friends to enjoy the rainy season. However, due to heavy rainfall, rivers and streams in the Maval region were overflowing, including the one at Kundmala. Tragically, Onkar was swept away by the strong current of the stream.

Since Friday, the Talegaon Dabhade police, along with the emergency teams from Shivdurg Mitra, Wildlife Protection Association, and ‘Aapda Mitra, Maval’ in Lonavala, had been tirelessly searching for Onkar. Finally, on Sunday afternoon at around 4:30 pm, the joint efforts of these organizations proved successful as they recovered Onkar’s lifeless body.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers posed by natural water bodies during the monsoon season. Despite the best efforts of the authorities and emergency teams, tragic accidents like this can occur, highlighting the need for caution and adherence to safety guidelines, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall and swift water currents.
