Reporter : Arun Patel|10-Dec-2022 HYDERABAD: In a grisly rerun of a gangster flick, a 24-year-old woman pursuing a bachelor of dental surgery was kidnapped just hours before her engagement from her Adibatla home by a mob led by her jilted lover early Friday, The dramatic siege of the dental house surgeon's two-storied residence by 50 armed mobsters, who arrived in a convoy of cars and a truck, ended after over 30 minutes of vandalism and violence that caused critical injuries to five persons including the father of the woman Vaishali. She was traced late in the night in the city's suburbs in a disturbed state after an eight-hour grueling search by a police party. While the horror unfolded in the morning, police remained out of bounds despite repeated SOS calls by neighbors. The mobsters smashed CCTV cameras to camouflage identity while they wrecked furniture and ransacked the property The jilted suitor, Naveen Reddy, owner of an upscale beverage outlet, Mr. Tea dragged Vaishali down the stairs from her top-floor room and whisked her away n a car. While police tracked her down in a late-night operation and arrested eight mobsters, the key accused Naveen, is still on the run While Naveen and his gang ran amok in the house, Vaishali's parents and relatives tried to intervene, but were assaulted. The woman's father, Damodar Reddy, said, My daughter's engagement was scheduled at noon, but she was abducted and taken away in a car at 11:30 am. I lost consciousness after being hit on the head with an iron rod. By the time I gathered my senses, Vaishali was missing. 5everal family members were also attacked." Residents alleged police did not respond to their calls and this boosted the mob's morale, Later, the accused's tea outlet Was not set ablaze by protesters, who also jammed the Sagar highway, triggering a gridlock. The mob vandalism and assault of Vaishali's family were caught on mobile phones and a CCTV camera. The goons also damaged parked cars on the road near her house and bullied passers-by. Vaishali's family said their daughter met Naveen a few months ago at a local Badminton tourney. Later, Naveen sent feelers to Vaishali's parents about his desire to marry her. "When I sought my daughter's opinion, she junked the proposal. Soon, Navin began to mount pressure through political leaders, but we firmly said we are not interested" her Father said. Bearing a grudge, Naveen began construction work near their residence and started stalking and troubling her Vaishalï's father lodged a criminal case but police were yet to file a charge sheet despite multiple reminders, Damodar recalled the difficulty in lodging the FIR. Rachakonda additional commissioner of police Sudheer Babu, who is holding charge in the absence of Mahesh Bhagwat, said he had spoken to Vaishali's mother and assured her of her daughter's rescue.
